The ones you got comments like "get an agent, we only deal with agents" and "we are not accepting new work at this time" it sounds like they had some submission guidelines that they didn't feel you followed.

I'm surprised that not a single one of the "material is not what we're looking for" gave you any feedback at all about why it was not what they were looking for. That's unusual.
