Um... Snap.com... please go away.. LJ... NO KUDOS TO YOU.... Not for sticking this crap on automatically and forcing us to find ways to rid ourselves of the bandwidth hog... and not for the new "improved" customization area too (read as PAIN IN THE ASS if you are more than a casual customizer) so.. yah...

Here's how to get rid of Snap.com http://spacecowb0y.livejournal.com/281574.html (thanks to evilwildlex via ataniell93 (who I know not) You can also mouse over one of those things, and click on the little um... sprocket thing and tell it to never show them to you again... which means never until the cookie is gone from your browser anyway...

On the customize thing. My BIGGEST complaint is that the main page looses the drop down menu to choose your layout them from.. LJ has opted to dumb it down, so now people are supposed to choose by color or theme first with the layout being only secondary. BOOO... but there's still a workaround... at least for now, I have this page bookmarked and the links on it to the other pages still link back into the main customize area, but at least it gives me my damn drop down.. as if I can remember the name of every layout I use. This weekend I learned how to bypass most of the sucky preset options on flexible squares using CSS... pretty cool... now that means I can apply some of that knowledge to other layouts I like but which I was never able to get a secondary image to work... I am finding I really enjoy working with layered images, like one for the background, one for the header, and one for the text areas such as entries and sidebars. So I'll have to toy with that some.
