First Aisle I'm in, is usually produce, so I grab as much fresh fruit and veggies as I can. Top of the list, strawberries, blueberries, bananas (preferably red), peaches, apples (gala or fuji please), then move on to mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, fresh green beans, green onions (much more flexible than their full sized companions) One minute gone.
That done, I run to the cereal aisle and knock several boxes of shredded wheat into my cart, several boxes of whatever kind of pasta can fall in as I sweep my arm across the aisle. If there is tomato sauce or tomato paste in that aisle then I'll sweep a lot of cans of those into the cart at the same time. Two minutes gone.
Then I'll sprint down to the meat section, grab two or three big chubs of ground beef for 20 seconds, and as many of those big bags of boneless skinless chicken boobs as I can get in the cart for 20 seconds, and then slam in those flash frozen vaccuum sealed fish (tilapia, Cod, Roughy, until the buzzer goes off.
Let me clarify on the meat part. I choose that ground beef is not because I'm really a big beef eater, but those big chubs are easy to store. I can stack them in the deep freeze... you can cut them up (frozen) with a good serrated knife into 5 pieces when you want to start using one, and put the in freezer bags so you can thaw out one segment at a time. So they'll last a long time, and also, the meat is consistent. Steaks and cuts like that, you need time to mull over to pick out the best cut. Ground Beef you can just grab the chubs and know it's all the same stuff same quality, all the same consistency. The same goes for the chicken, you grab those big bags, and you get more per grab and it's usually cheap.. okay it's not always the best cuts but it's great for soups and sandwiches and stirfry and that. Fish.. well.. those vaccuum packed bags are just the best. Usually inside the bag each one is individually wrapped and you can just lay it on the table to thaw and it thaws quick but it doesn't leak out. That's good. and those bags can also go in the deep freeze. I would get a lot.
