Nightmares... They Suxxors
I started this last night, just before the power went out again... *grumble*
K... so I had a terrible nightmare last night, which I'm pretty sure was caused by the noise and vibration in my ear.
See.. any time there is a giant alien ape spider creature after you, it's very bad.
Here's how it went. We were on this space ship running from something that we were trying to keep from following us. Well there was some kind of battle going on around us, and our ship was unarmed. It was like a bullet (our ship) and it was designed to go through wormholes. I mean that's what it did, so I went through a short wormhole with it... and the other ship followed us. so I took us back to home space through the hole, back into the battle. We were unarmed, so we were just trying to escape and the enemy ship was having none of it. So anyway, I tried another hole, which I ducked back into before the other ship could get through it completely, and then took a third hole before that ship could see which hole I went in.
That third hole was very long... but the other ship didn't follow us, or didn't manage to make it. My ship was made for that kind of travel and theirs wasn't. But anyway, I told my passenger that I wouldn't take her back through it right now, that it was too rough. And it appeared that we were safe at that point from the battle we'd left behind. She agreed. So we landed on this planet to rest since we finally weren't followed.
Now, bear in mind after this really long wormhole, we were way over in something like the gamma quadrant. This was completely unexplored space. We landed and go out, obviously the planet was an M class and perfectly comfortable... I mean really? it looked like earth. No joke. There was a well worn dirt path, so we started down it thinking we'd find some civilization maybe to help us, or at least give us some comfort while we waited until it was safe to return.
The trouble is, before long, We noticed was this vibration in the ground--this harsh HUM--and after we got a little ways down this road I started thinking "I don't like this thumping." It was getting stronger, and louder. Before long, we decided to turn around and go back to the ship for safety. We just had this terrible sense of impending doom, even though we didn't know what was causing the noise. We felt that it was 'coming'. We noticed some animals (very earth like animals btw) were just sometimes sort of hunkered down by trees as if they were just paralyzed with fear, which of course worried us more. It was getting difficult to run too. The ground was vibrating and shaking rhythmically, like something was coming. Something tremendously large. So this creature... OH MY GOD! Comes around a bend and we keep running for a little while, but it's hard and harder, and we're terrified. Before long we're like the other animals. We just scrunch ourselves against a tree too... We're seriously just petrified of it. We see it head over to my left, where it snaps up some kind of antelope we'd passed just moments before... but that's not enough. It eats something else. That's not enough either. So then it comes after us.
Now for some reason I have a check in my hand too... I don't know what it's for. We're trying to make ourselves so small that it won't see us, won't recognize us as food since obviously we don't smell anything like what it's used to eating. Also it seemed that it could not see us, but only smell and hear... or feel vibrations. That stupid check, though, made some tiny noise in my hand, and was it. The monster was all over me. Trying to grab me and trying to put me in it's horrible mouth. So I was fighting and trying to bite its horrible hairy mouth arm-things to get it to think twice about eating me.
At that point, thankfully I woke up. I don't know who my companion was. Just a passenger, you know? Our ship was small. Really, it was like being in a car. Maybe the thing was about the size of a small AirStream camper. And actually, it sort of looked like one too, shaped like a pill, and silver chrome all over.
My power went out a while ago. I don't know if it'll come back quickly, or if I'm in for another long outage. It's bedtime anyway.

As far as the economy, I'm elated ELATED that odious bail out bill didn't pass. That's the opposite of what is needed for the market to correct itself. I'm not worried about the economy. I'm afraid of spiders, so of course any monster I could invent would probably be like one in some way, even if it was like a giant ape spider thing the size of King Kong.
I'm not the kind of person to let things like this worry me. There is nothing I can change by worrying and fretting about it. I just go with the flow, and wait for a break, do what I have to do to get things to work. It's how I operate. So I while that interpretation might work for someone else, it is just about the opposite of how my psyche deals with things. Sometimes I just have a weird dream and sometimes it's a nightmare.

Thank gods the annuity is safe, not that it pays me much each month...but a little bit helps. Gerry was farseeing enough to set the thing up as interest bearing only, so like I said...that part of my income is safe. The other part might be yanked out from under me.
