So as long as everyone is sharing these earworms

Here is my trump card.

Now I have discovered that not one single strand of my lights is working right, so I have to go find some on clearance so I can put ornaments on my poor naked yule tree.

Hint: prelit tree...works wonders! I have a wee 2 foot one sitting on a table up on the platform...pretty little thing. And Gerry's smallest Yule tree in the world will be put up by the TV,as per tradition...just as soon as I can find where I packed it!

This was a prelit tree. After the first year one of the central strands didn't work any more..so we had to put a small strand on the cover the hole... the second year it was two strands and the third we spend hours cutting all the lights out of it so we could just put on lights... on a little tree I guess it might be more practical, but this is a big 7 foot tree I bought the first year we were in the house that I bought after the season was over for half price. (and still paid over $100 for it.) It was worth every penny it's a huge wonderful looking tree, but the lights were junk and we cut them out after spending so many hours trying to find the bad bulb. Easier to just buy a $5 strand of lights every once in a while. Last year we had trouble too, but I was using my small tree and the half functioning rice lights were enough. I don't mind too much. I need other stuff anyway so I have to go out for that stuff too, and I have another paycheck on Wednesday.

AH okay. Well there are some very nice, inexpensive, lights out on the market. OH and I put up a wreath on the outer porch door this year. For some reason it felt right, plus I am challenging my Great Aunt, back in New Jersey, to do a little bit this year. She's not celebrated Yule for ...for...well longer than I've been alive. Great Uncle Willie (her father) died at Yule, and it took all the joy out of the season.

Need to take a pic of the wreath and send it to her, counter challenge to her saying I needed to put up a tree this year and remember the good times. Yeah well two can play that game! *grin*

Big Lots is my favorite place for cheap decorations no matter what time of year. Crafts 2000 in Springfield is awesome for lights year round too - that's where my mom gets hers for floral supply at about 2/3 the price of stores like Hobby Lobby or Michael's.
