Ugh... My computer is pizzing me off.  The Sims 2 has suddenly for no apparent reason decided that I don't have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and therefore it need not bother starting the game.  This is despite the fact that on Monday, I did have a DirectX 9.0c compatible card... the same card I have now... and it was working fine. I didn't change anything, but suddenly I have a missing compatible card? WTF??  >_< 

I've tried updating DirectX 9.0c... the first ones I downloaded from MS didn't even bother TRYING to install... just basically skipped the install, and went straight to Done.  Then I downloaded a package version, and it DOES install, but nothing changes.  I downloaded the latest drivers for my ATI Radeon 9200 (well within the required range btw) and THAT software has an error "INF: Video Driver not found." Duh? I'm INSTALLING THE DAMN VIDEO DRIVER!  WTF?  >_<

Ok.. done venting... at least for the moment.
