2006-Mar-26, Sunday 20:05De-clutter.... That's what I have to do around here. Why? My house is officially on the market starting tomorrow. It has been unofficially on the market for a week now and already the web ad with Col dwell Banker had 21 hits between Monday and Friday. That's good I'm told. Tomorrow the sign goes in the yard. I'm nowhere near ready to show this house... I have not de-cluttered adequately.
Reason Number 1) Not adequate help... i.e. help that can do manly jobs like nail on the bottom steps in the basement. Normally I could do jobs like this myself. However since the accident simple tasks like swinging a hammer into a nail will cause me so much pain I cringe at the attempt. Same goes for carrying and dragging crates around that I have filled with my clutter.
Reason Number 2) Not enough boxes, not enough storage containers, not enough paychecks to buy the number and size that I had planned and still have enough money to get through my work week. bah... that sucks too.
On my list of handy man jobs, I only got a couple finished. I sort of fixed the kitchen sink's cold tap... I put the old aerator back on and got rid of the broken sprayer one. I laid the caulk strip in the tub yesterday and it looked very nice. Today I pulled it off because it had failed to adhere, and looked like shit. I laid a bead of the white caulk I couldn't afford to buy, that I'd intended to use in the kitchen. Now it looks good again. I also caulked around the bathroom sink for good measure. I wans't able to find my sanding block... Goddess knows where it has gone >_< it certainly was not in my tool box I can tell you that! So I'll have to spend another 2 or 3 dollars on a new block so I can sand the bathroom, lay the last bit of mud and hopefully get it painted this week sometime. Blah... I really wanted to have that done the most. That and the kitchen floor were the two big ones on my list. And it did not get done. I wonder if I should caulk around the toilet. Hmm....
Overall the bathroom looks better... and if Karen shows the house, she can make it clear that it will be finished and painted by closing for certain, and the evidence of that is in there on the rack, in the big tub of wall mud and two cans of paint. So I don't think I am going to tell her to wait a week to show it. Let her go ahead. If nobody bids on it, no great deal, we'll get more done next week.
The kitchen is cleaner. Thanks to Kayla and Beth mostly for that one. I didn't get that bead of caulk laid in there because I didn't have the caulk.. then when I bought the caulk, it was clear that it had to be laid in the bathroom first. So now I'll have to get another tube. Wish my paycheck hadn't been for $88... Damn flu. I wans't able to acquire enough tiles to do the floor yet... Tammy brought over a box of Ergo and it looks nice, but I just cant' see how to install it... I can cut it to size of course... but I think it's supposed to have padding underneath that is about a quarter of an inch thick and I don't have that part. The border strip that she brought won't fit without it. And without tacking it down, I don't see how it will stay put as it would if it were on the whole floor. She brought 5 beautiful grayish blue tiles, but again, I need at least 6, maybe 9... so that won't work either, and I can't afford to go buy them this week.. so that will have to just wait.
Anyway.. Next weekend will be more of the same... only I have to start my day with 2 other appointments. One at the Chiropractor, and then on to the dentist to have my crown put on (the crown I didn't know had come in... that i didn't' know I wouldn't have to pay any more for... but I paid off my dentist, and then learned that my broken crown had in fact been warranty repaired and all I have to do is come in and have it seated... should't even have to have it sent back for fitting since I've managed to keep the temp crown in place all this time. Whew.. so that's one less broken tooth to worry about. This *ONE* will be finished at last. I really need to find a free dental clinic or something. >_< I need way too much work to afford it, and yet the more I don't get it done the bloody worse it gets.
Anyway, so anyone local willing to help get my house in order next weekend either Saturday after about 2pm or Sunday after about noon, please come over.
There is so much that I need to get done.. and I am not going to do it today.. I'm too tired now after working in the bathroom... so it's just going to have to wait. Who knows. Someone may look at the house this week and think it's just great, make and offer and we can close in another month.
