I bought this:
I said I was going to. I set aside part of my tax return for it. Click on it to see the extra large image.
Yesterday I drove out to the bike shop I use and they ordered it for me. It'll take about a week, and then I'll be taking my other FX 7.2 in to have my custom gear switched to the new bike. Most likely the Matte Gold bike will be sold. Just a heads up on that, if anyone is interested in a good quality Trek bike, I'll be selling it for $400. This is not the kind of cheap junk you get at Wal-Mart for $100. It's a nearly new $500 bike. Trek is also on of the few American companies still making bikes in the US. Lance Armstrong has ridden and won the Tour De France on a Trek bike since the beginning of his career, most recently on his Trek Madone. Trek has raised huge quantities of money to the Lance Armstrong Foundation to fight cancer by selling special custom painted one of a kind bikes like this one painted by Damien Hurst which raised a whopping $500,000 all by itself. (for more pix and info).
I do remind people that when you invest in a good quality bike like this, that it will last you a lifetime. (unless two years later the same model that you love comes out in RED and then what else can you do but get another one?) A Wal-Mart bike, when something breaks you may as well just throw it away and buy another one. 5 or 10 years down the road, you'll have spent way more than you would have to buy a good quality mid level bike like this.
Pop me a line if you want me to send pictures of it. It is in like new condition, only has about 300 miles on it because we had virtually no summer last year which put a serious squelch on my riding time. It will also have been 100% serviced right before it is listed. This one here will be my new baby. I couldn't help it. I mean... It's RED. What the hell could I do? I'm so excited. I can't wait for the weather to clear so my ear will go away and I can get out on it. Hopefully this year a few people will be more interested in riding with me.
Just a quick post script. Yes, I am still on March 3 reading my LJ updates. I have been very very busy playing Final Fantasy VI on my wonderful RetroDuo console that
composer99 sent me last year in exchange for some handmade goods. I hadn't played this game in so long it's almost like playing it for the first time. Some of the puzzles you have to solve I actually have to think about because I don't just remember how to get through the mazes that Squaresoft is notorious for in their "dungeons", nor how to accomplish certain scenarios. Forgot how much fun the opera is. I wonder how that would sound now on a modern gaming system with real voices and orchestras and stuff. I'm going to get my lunch and go do that some more. My ear still sucks so I doubt that I'll be on much, but I have YM on my phone if you want me. I'll turn it on.
