Do you have a magickal name?
Kandilokai ach Ishte. I am also known as The Anjiua
Does it have a special meaning?
Kandilokai ach Ishte is an historical personal name of mine. It was Ishte who was the Anjiua of Terekai Arena. The term Anjiua is sort of a mediator, or judge depending on the circumstances. I have a gavel.
How did you find Wicca/Paganism?
I wouldn't say I found it. It has just always been with me.
How long have you been practicing?
Pretty much since childhood. I have always been somewhat clairvoyant, and had memories that were not from this lifetime. As I got older, those memories gradually made more sense.
Solitary or group practitioner?
I have done and do both. For the most part I am solitary because I and so thoroughly sickened by the politics that were brought into the circle I founded. What should never have been a political entity was destroyed by that and by the utter betrayal of personal trust. I may forgive what was done, but I doubt I will ever be able to trust people to be true to their word as I once did. I can think of few harms worse than that of a person who claims to be your friend working behind you to undermine everything you work for, and paint you to people who don't know you as well, as someone utterly different from who you are for their own personal gain in stature in a place there should be no need for a power struggle.
What is your path?
I walk the path of Gaia. I find the silly rituals that funadmentalist Wiccans feel are required quite nearly as ridiculous as some of lengthy the rituals required by some of the Christian churches. However, many of our basic tenets are the same as both, and in fact the same as most other faiths. "As long as it harms no one, do what you want," follows the Wiccan Rede "An it harm none, Do what thou wilt." and travels alongside the Christian tenet "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In other words, don't harm other people, otherwise do what you want. Even the Ten Commandments mostly deal with not harming others. Don't steal, it harms others, Don't lie, it harms the person's trust in you, and your own understanding of truth. Etc. I could go on and on about this.
Are you out of the broom closet?
Not as much as I used to be. I have been discriminated by employers too many times now, and actually had one try to fire me because of it, another required me to provide PROOF that my jewelery was part of my faith and then PROOF that I was actually a member of the faith I professed and a member in good standing. This is absolutely illegal of course, however, rather than risk my job again, I provided that proof, and then that additional proof. And then because they kept changing their rules, I required those same persons to sign a document stating that what I had provided was sufficient, and that I would not be asked for any further 'proof' about my faith. I had my hours cut from 40 hours a week to 14, and when I started picking up hours at another store, I was told I was not allowed to transfer to where I was wanted and needed. I did eventually over come that and transfer to where I would not be discriminated against, however, since that experience, along with some others, I'm less likely to volunteer anything having to do with my faith if I can help it when it comes to my work place. So where I used to be quite open about my beliefs, I'm now much less likely to discuss them with people who don't already know what I believe.
Gods/Goddess
Yes?
Who are your patron Gods.
Gaia, but not so much in the sense of the one greek earth goddess, grandmother earth or mother of the titans. More in the sense of the universal mother. Gaia is the all. She is all gods and all goddesses. Each face a facet on one multifaceted perfect jewel. The one, the all, the expansive and the minute. She is the force that binds everything together, and the energy we are able to manipulate through prayer or magic or whatever you want to call it when you work with it on the group level or individually. Each of us makes up a part of that whole, and each of us has access to it.
Who are your patron Goddesses?
See above.
Do you fear dark aspects of the Gods/Goddess, or rather, respect them?
Respect, yes. Fear, no. I agree with
gangrel_pri on this one. But let me go a little farther to say that without the dark aspects, how can we understand the light aspects? Without night, would there be day? Would we know it was day? Without evil as a measure, how would we really know what is good?
Do you worship the Christian God?
Worship? Not in the Christian sense. Respect? Yes, in the sense that I believe that it is also a part of Gaia. They are the same with different names and different dogmas, but the same basic universal energy that can be tapped with will. Once you break the dogma and "We're the best" "We're the one true faith" bs out of nearly every faith, the message is essentially the same. Be excellent to one another, and do whatever you like.
Do you ever worship animals? Or plants?
The term worship is really misleading to be honest. Respect yes. and in as much as like myself and every other thing in the universe they are also a part of the whole of Gaia, then yes, but I don't think worship is as accurate a term as, to respect and live within that whole.
Do you regularly commune with nature?
Yes. But I also feel the need to point out that WE are also nature. Humans are a natural part of the world and are not excluded from nature by our humanity nor by our tools. The idea that nature is only nature when it is untouched by human hands, that it is only pristine when we don't touch it is both arrogant and ignorant. We are natural physicalities, and we do not have to revert to a stone age way of life in order to be considered a part of nature. Our cities are a part of nature just as much as some untouched valley, because they are a part of OUR nature. I believe that we need to respect the world, but I also know that nature herself can do far more 'damage' than we can do to this planet. We have this idea that if the planet changes along it's natural course that this is wrong and have the arrogance to think somehow we are here to keep it from changing. If an animal fails to adapt to changes and dies out, somehow that is our fault, never mind how many millions of species came into being and died out in the life time of this planet alone before the first humans ever even advanced enough to chip their first stones into spear points. It's ridiculous that our social media now teaches those too ignorant to know any better that it is somehow our responsibility to keep anything from ever changing in our world even though our world is in constant fluctuation, and we along with it. So yes. I commune with nature regularly. Every single breath I take, every moment I live, even those when I am in deep meditation calling the wind.
Ever walked barefoot in the woods?
Yes. I used to do it all the time. Now I usually at least wear some zori because my soles are not as tough as they used to be.
Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature?
I have taken a camping trip, but not specifically for that purpose. I can talk to nature any time. I don't need a camping trip to do it.
Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth?
I feel close to her most of the time. I don't know if I could give you a specific moment.
What is/are your power animal(s)?
Okay, seriously? I know this is really cliché, but yes... I have dragons. It's a part of my spiritual history. What can I say?
Do you have a familiar?
Lady Galadriel Starfire. Then of course the 524 dragons... but Starfire is the one of flesh right now. She's probably one of the dragons actually. I wouldn't be surprised.
Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual? Or a plant?
I call on the dragons all the time.
Do you hug trees?
If I feel like it.
Give them gifts?
Funny thought that. You know? I mean our idea of a gift or an insult. The tree might find it a greater gift if I pooped at it's roots than we would think. I have gifted trees with special energy before though. A tree that was hurt by a storm or something like that I have soothed.
What is your favorite flower to work with?
Flower? to work with? In what way? I like flowers that grow from bulbs and stuff. Things I don't have to try to grow, because I don't do so well with those kinds. But work with them? You mean like spiritually? No. I don't go in for all that ritual stuff, remember? If I need to do something, I just do it.
What is your favorite tree to work with?
Same answer as above.
What are your favorite holidays?
I don't know. I like Yule pretty well. I like Samhain too, but I see Samhain disrespected a lot too. I mean I don't know why I'm so surprised when I see people getting married or handfasted on Samhain. But it just demonstrates their own lack of understanding of the holiday that they don't see the inappropriateness of that. In a way it's like getting married at a funeral. They're only going for the shock value usually. Samhain his a good time for breaking ties, and saying goodbye, and I think that's important. Yule a few months later is a nice follow up.
What is your least favorite holiday?
I don't really have a least favorite. I am kind of against the whole hallmark holiday. You know, the ones invented or reinvented by the card companies to make you feel compelled to send cards or else guilt trip you about not remembering some random invented holiday. Or else make you feel bad that you no longer have that person to be guilted into sending a card or buying a gift for.
Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday?
Plenty of times. But again, I'm not into all that formal ritual.
Ever taken a day off work to celebrate a pagan holiday?
Yes, but I have also taken flack for it, had my hours cut, or had my job threatened. So now I just try to work around whatever is going on.
Do you celebrate Yule on the 21st rather than the 25th?
Both actually. See... Yule is a three day festival. You light the yule log on the solstice, not necessarily the 21st btw, and it burns for three days. Then Santa comes on the 25th. So we exchange gifts on the 25th with the family.
Have you ever felt the Veil thin?
Sure.
Ever danced the Maypole?
Sure. It was fun, but did not result in sex. (Thankfully, because I really did not want to have sex with anyone there, even if a couple wanted to have sex with me.)
Know what the Maypole symbolizes?
Duh...
Ever made love on Beltane?
I dunno.. maybe? Probably not on purpose. I didn't exactly keep a sex diary. "May 1: I had sex today."
How do you usually celebrate the pagan holidays?
However I want. Sometimes I join a group for a little gathering, or sometimes I go solo, and sometimes I don't to anything beyond acknowledging the holiday.
Do you use Tarot?
Sometimes. I'm not particularly skilled in that art.
Do you use runes?
I have. I own some, but again, not particularly skilled.
Do you use a pendulum?
I have. I'm more skilled than with the first two.
Do you use dowsing rods?
I have not tried this, but I think it would be interesting to see how it worked for me.
Do you use astrology?
I have, but again it's not something I'm skilled at. Most of it is so generalized that you could find truth in any of it.
Any other form of divination?
I'm a natural clairvoyant. Sometimes I just know things, or remember things. I have sometimes said "predicting the past, and remembering the future" is how my gift works. It's sort of random sometimes. I mean if I try I can usually remember things too, but the most striking and accurate things have been random. For example when my Dad was dying, I had a dream that Mom got sick and couldn't take care of Dad any more and we were all in a panic because she had been insisting on doing everything herself and nobody else knew how to take care of him. I called that morning told her about it, and she said "I'll try to take better care of myself." The next day I called and instead of my mom, my Uncle John answered the phone. Mom was sick and she'd finally had to call and ask for help. The next day she was in the hospital in intensive care with a perforated ulcer, and we were all in a panic because none of us knew how to take care of him. (Thank goodness for Hospice)
What was the first spell you did?
Spell? Again with the whole ritual thing. I don't really do that. If something needs done I just send the energy to do it. There is no spell for it. As far as my first working? I couldn't begin to tell you.
What was the latest?
Again, see above. I would guess my latest real work was probably sending a dragon to watch over one of my friends who has been very ill.
Ever done a love spell?
What for? No. I did the opposite once though. I broke someone else's love spell over someone I cared about who was being held against his will by it.
A job spell?
Not a spell. but I have sent out energy to get a job.
A healing spell?
Same as above.
What was the most powerful spell you've ever performed?
I couldn't say. I don't do spells, and I've done some powerful workings. I'm a guardian. Sometimes I have hard work to do.
Do you believe in Vampires? Werewolves? Shape shifters? Elves? Faeries? Dragons? Nymphs? Sprites? Mermaids? Sirens? Satyrs?
Some? Fully. Others? In a sense.
Ghosts/Spirits?
why wouldn't I?
Ever "seen" any of the above?
Certainly. Most houses I have lived in have one. This house doesn't, but the house doesn't like me. It played dead when I first looked at it. But the day I got the keys and came in to clean the fridge, it was very clear to me that it didn't like me. Now I don't like it either.
ETA: I realised that this isn't entirely clear. What I mean is that his house doesn't have a ghost living in it. It does have it's own spirit and it's own energy though, and this house does not like me. It's not my fault. It's even said as much. It's more about the fact that the house has been abandoned and disregarded, and I'm sure it doesn't help that I never intended to keep the house long term myself. I know what this house needs to bring it back into balance. I'm not what it needs though.
Ever talked to any of the above?
Yes.
Ever called on any of the above in magick?
Yes. My dragons are often helpful in various ways.
ETA: Also I kind of misread this question I think. Dragons are above, but I think the question meant the spirits. I have called upon house spirits before in order to ask questions, but generally I don't ask them to do things for me. Usually a spirit within a house is there because they have their own work that they are supposed to be doing. If I can help them, I will, but I won't generally burden them if I can help it. Usually if I do ask questions, it just has to do with history that the ghost might know that might be helpful in a particular situation.
Do you have one of them as a personal guardian?
Yes. Again, My dragons are often helpful in various ways.
ETA: again, I misread the meaning here I think. I do not have a house ghost as a personal guardian. Generally speaking they have their own problems and tasks and I would not burden them with helping me with mine.
Do you see a rabbit, a man or a woman in the moon?
Hrm. I'm supposed to see one of those things?
Own a cat?
Lady Galadriel Starfire. But I don't own her. She has been my companion since the day she was born.
When you meditate what does your sacred/safe place look like?
Well.. it's MY sacred safe place, isn't it? Even if I described it, you probably would see it differently. But the main part is in a clearing in a grove. There is a sheltered temple of sorts and within it is the tablet with the 24 names of myself and my direct spiritual brotherhood carved into it.
Do you work with Chakras?
Not very often.
Do you believe in soul mates?
In a sense. I'm not sure I believe in the same way a lot of people do. Not in the whole end all be all one Twoo Love thing. It kind of bugs me when someone says stuff like "It's a soul mate thing" with whoever they're with at present, never mind how many times they've said it about the person before that and the person before that etc. A soul mate may not necessarily be someone you're going to have a beautiful perfect loving physical relationship with. Sometimes it's more like one big damn fight with that person.
Ever met one?
Yes. Some. There are 24 names on the tablet after all.
Do you have a Spirit guide?
Yes. A couple actually, but Lady Teshalai in particular has been with me as long as I can remember.
Is it always love and light?
Wha? How would I know what light is without dark?
Do you have a magickal name?
Kandilokai ach Ishte. I am also known as The Anjiua
Does it have a special meaning?
Kandilokai ach Ishte is an historical personal name of mine. It was Ishte who was the Anjiua of Terekai Arena. The term Anjiua is sort of a mediator, or judge depending on the circumstances. I have a gavel.

Well.. it's MY sacred safe place, isn't it?

I never really thought of the dragons who hang around with me as power animals; they're just my friends. But they certainly are helpful in many ways, and have never refused a request.
What you call Gaia, I call The Universe.
As for soul mates — in my experience and observation, on the rare occasions that soul mates (in the sense of other half or twin or whatever) incarnate in the same time and actually manage to meet in person, AND happen to be of appropriate ages and genders, they are not destined for being together happily ever after. It just isn't how it works.

Well, you know what I mean. Dragons are usually considered a cliché claimed by neophytes who don't really actually know what a dragon does, or how you should behave around one. For me, I can't hardly help but have dragons. It's not like I went out looking for them. hahaha. But they do go to bat for you when you need 'em to, and you talk about getting somewhere quick. Dragons do not get lost if you tell them where you need to be, or where they need to be. (kind of wonder if Anne McCaffrey doesn't have a few hanging out with her telling her stories. Going between seems awfully similar to what mine do on the astral hahah.)
