10 weird things

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] frog_songs even though I didn't make the dodgeball cut. hehehe...

Rules: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I don't know if this counts as a habit... but I have a nightmare where I'm in my car on a steep hill, and it's drifting backwards down the hill... and the brakes have failed... so I'm trying to put it in gear... you know, in first gear and let the clutch in to slow it down... only it's not working.. I can put the clutch all the way in, and the car will continue to go backwards down the hill and all I can do is try to steer it to keep from hitting anything... I can't seen to turn the car around so that I can go down the street forwards.  Nothing seems to work, and nothing I do that should work will work to fix the problem.  I usually have this dream when I feel like something in my life is out of my control and I'm having trouble dealing with it.

2. I sleep on the floor.  Every day I roll my bed up in the corner, and every night I lay it back out and sleep on it.  This makes my room EVER so much bigger during the day since there is not a large piece of furniture taking up half the room.  Instead there is just a roll of bedding in the corner which the cat uses as her own giant personal throne during the day.  Eventually I want to build a special cabinet for the roll to fit into that can be opened flat at night.

3. Connected with that: Unless I'm using my computer, I prefer to sit on the floor too.  I have a big pillow for that purpose, made in much the same way the underside of my bedding is made.  The pillow is easy to move from place to place though.  I use it when I'm playing video games in the living room.  The only reason that I"m still using my chair in my room when I'm on my computer as A) because it is there, and B) because I have not yet found a low table that I can put my monitor clamp on so that I can sit/lounge on the floor.

4. Music for me is a highly spiritual experience.  I cannot imagine the world without it, or myself without an intimate understanding of it.  By that I don't mean that I have an intimate understanding of music theory (I don't) or composition (I also don't) or music history (I definitely don't) or cultural music (very don't).  What I mean is that I have an intimate understanding of the music within myself.

5. Related to that: Most of my friends listen to music 90% of their waking time, and some even sleep with it on all the time.  I on the other hand, only listen to music in the car about 50% of the time... rarely have it on when I'm at home, and only occasionally decide to leave a music station playing soft music when I am sleeping.  I don't know why this is.

6. Also related to that: I hear music in things that most people wouldn't.  Such as the furnace running (as evidenced by the current music tag you often see to that effect) the vacuum cleaner, dish washer etc.  Even 'silence' has a song, and it sings to me... if I could find a completely hearing deprived environment, (provided I knew it was temporary and wasn't being freaked out by the idea of never hearing anything ever again) I think I would be able to hear my own symphony... if only I could write it down.  People don't get that even when it is quiet is it not silent.. in a completely soundproofed room, you will still hear your heart beat, the sound of your own breathing, your blood moving through veins and arteries, and even other things if you learn to listen.

7. I hate poetry.  I write/have written plenty of it... yes yes... lyrical poetry is still poetry.. in fact, other people's lyrical poetry is probably what I hate the very very worst... unless it's written in freaking iambic pentameter... (btw, I can't stand Shakespeare for this reason... love to hear the story told, but can't stand to read the shit.)

8. I have worked jobs where I spent literally 16-18 hours a day in my car *on average) and was perfectly happy doing it as long as I was making enough money.

9. I hate it when people use the word literally to express something figurative.  Hello?  Literally means that it REALLY HAPPENED THAT WAY... so if you say, "I literally burned all my hair off yesterday trying to light the grill" and you still have some hair?  Um.. you didn't LITERALLY do anything of the sort.  Basically what this means to me (because it's not just 'literally' that is at issue here) is PLEASE TO LEARN SPEAKING ENGLISH BEFORE TALKING ME IN THAT LANGUAGE!

10. One more.  I play D&D... I hate it when people insist on putting the A in the front.. we all know that it's AD&D... Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.. ok? we all know that the second edition is Advanced... duh... it's still Dungeons and Dragons, ne?  Why do I have to ad and A?  It's D&D... it's nice and simple that way.... also I hate when people ask me if I am playing 3rd edition... OF COURSE I'M NOT PLAYING 3RD EDITION!  WHO THE HELL PLAYS THAT DUMBED DOWN CRAP?  "oh the D20 games are TOO complicated... let's dumb it down so that everything is based on 10s... No... Other games can be percentile... I'm not going along with it.  Thanks. We'll stick with D&D the way it was meant to be played... not simplified.

Now... for the tagging.  And no.. I'm not tagging anyone that I don't have any expectation of actually doing this silly thing themselves.  However, that doesn't mean that because I didn't tag you that I'm sure you won't... it just means I only had 6 people to tag.  So if you didn't get tagged and still want to do it, then feel free to do so.

Funny... only one of these people is local... three are FROM local but two aren't any more... but I've met all but one in person. ^_^  Wonder if any of these 6 can guess where they fall on that list.  Oh yah.. looks like only one is male too... whoops hahaha didn't mean to discriminate, ne?
