1. What was the first video game you have ever played?
Don’t laugh PONG! Hey
cornerofmadness let's play pong together! Yah... Parents take us to sears and we have to wait forever while they are looking at lawnmowers or something... and I'm all playing with the pong displays there... and breakout!
2. What was your first console?
Nintendo Entertainment System. I was a grown up before I ever got one. I dearly wanted pong though.
3. Have you ever visited a video game arcade?
Oh yes. When I was preggers Rick would get me a stool so I could sit and play Blockout or Tetris for hours while the rest of the gang wandered around all the other games (which I did not care for).
4. What was your first handheld?
I never really had one. Well Last year I bought a handheld Sudoku game.. haha.. I would be more inclined to buy them, if for example that playstation version was cross compatible and could take a PS1 and PS2 CD as well as it's own. I mean think about it. Make it round like a portable CD player is now.. put a hand control on either side, and the screen on top.. small, compact... how hard is that?
5. What was the first game you've beaten/cleared completely? (Got to the last level/got 100%/beat high score, etc.) Hrm.. Probably Um... Mario Bros... was that the official name of that game? Next one I guess was probably Final Fantasy (the original Final Fantasy for NES)
6. Games based off of real sports: Yay or Nay?
NAY NAY NAY! Go out and play REAL sports if you want sports.
7. Online games: Yay or nay?
Yay sometimes... some of them don't suck.
8. Do you play any Massively Multiplayer Online RPG games? (MMORPGs?)
Nope. I'm really not that into those kinds of things.
9. Do you play any virtual pet games? (Neopets, Teripets, Aftermathzone, etc.)
Yah... Yah, I do... the only time I ever feed my Scorchio is when I want to play one of the two or three games I occasionally (i.e. rarely) play on Neo Pets.
10. Puzzle games and Strategy games: Yay or Nay?
Yay... (A couple. I do some sudoku puzzles online once in a while. and sometimes play scrabble)
11. Do you play any RPGs?
Yes... yes I do... most of the games I play are RPGs.
12. Do you play any Platformer games?
Platformer games? You mean NES? SNES? Playstation? Playstation II? Those are mine... and PC to some degree.
13. What was the first game/console/handheld of yours that stopped working?
I think I've killed at least one NES... actually I think probably two or three of them.
14. Do you actually care if a game has a plot or do you just play games for the gameplay?
Yah, I care a LOT about whether a game has a story and a plot. That's very important to me. It's why I didn't ever register to play Final Fantasy XI... just like MOST of the loyal fanbase that didn't want to play a plotless undirected online RPG.
15. Name a few video game characters that are your favorites.
Cloud Strife, Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII
Alucard - Castlevania 7 - Symphony of the Night (I think that was the one)
Squall Lionheart - Final Fantasy VIII
Edward Elric - Fulmetal Alechemist 2 (Curse of the Crimson Elixer)
Locke Cole - Final Fantasy VI (FF3 in the US)
Rydia the Caller - Final Fantasy IV (FF2 in the US)
16. Name a few series that are your favorites
Final Fantasy... that's a big duh, huh...
cornerofmadness... I didn't know you were a FF player though.
17. Has a video game ever made you cry?
Yes. I cried at the end of Final Fantasy VIII. I really thought Squall was dead at the end, and I was so happy that he wasn't at the very end. And also, the ending music was so beautiful that even without that I probably would have cried just because of the emotional impact of it.
18. Has a video game character annoyed you so much that you wanted him removed from the game?
Yes. There have been several... Wakka? Final Fantasy X? A total waste of sprite. That wierd creature thing in a chef suit in Final Fantasy IX? seriously, that creature being in my party was half the reason I put the game down and never finished it.
19. Do you "pair" or "ship" characters up with one another? (make/create/write romance involving them) Yes... yes I do.
20. Do you write video game fanfiction?
Not really... Well, more like I've been involved in multiwriter interactive fictions based on video games. Mostly Final Fantasy VII actually. Some of my friends will remember Final Fantasy Seven: A New Generation. FF7ANG and OOGANG on OneList, and later Egroups, and later Yahoogroups. Yus... some of y'all remember that. ^__^
21. Do you draw video game fanart?
No... I wish I could draw more.. At one time i could draw some and enjoyed it, but having not kept up practice, it now takes so much effort that I no longer enjoy the attempt... it just frustrates me.
22. Do you come up with theories on how a character came to be/what he or she would do in a situation/why he or she is moody/etc.
I have on occasion.
23. Are you a "fanboy" or "fangirl" of any character?
Well, yes. In some ways. Hee...
Boss Battles/Villains
24. Hardest Boss Battle
That's a hard call... I don't do as well with Action RPGs... so... for me Ganon always was pretty hard in the link series. But I usually play turn based games. In that case, I think the hardest was probably either Kefka or Sephiroth, if you want the final bosses. To be honest though, some of the lesser bosses earlier in the game can be harder, becuase you just have so much stuff that you can use against a final boss by the time you meet them. The battle may be longer, but not necessarily harder. Some of the "Weapons" in Final Fantasy VII were harder than Sephiroth in any of his incarnations through the game.
25. Most Frustrating Boss Battle
Um... Sin in Final Fantasy X becuase he game is so disorganized and non-linear in the storytelling that it allows you to come to the final boss in the game having completed less than half of the tasks necessary to get the stuff you need beat him.... with nothing in the story driving you towards the 'side quests' that are really REQUIRED to get the tools you need to defeat it. I have not finished this game because of this because once you get through the main story line which urges you to hurry hurry hurry into this battle and doesn't give you adequate clues along the way to tell you that you need to go do this or that first... and then you have no story to carry you on into that stuff... it makes the sidequests really boring, since you no longer have anything to do other than spend all day fighting random monsters and so on... that crap is stuff I do at the beginning of the game to get a little stronger before I take on the first quest.
26. Most Rewarding Boss Battle
Hrm.. That's a hard call too. I think Garland at the end of Final Fantasy... just because it was the first game like this that I'd ever played.. I had about 60 hours invested in this story, which I had thoroughly enjoyed, and so actually having a sense of accomplishing something was pretty cool. I really liked the idea of having to use my brain to win a game and not just relying on hand to eye coordination. In fact with the turn based system, that was even more true... you could play it with one hand and the controller resting on your knee if you wanted... but using your brain meant trying out all kinds of different things to see what happened... what worked and what didn't.. . So completing that game was just really rewarding.
27. Funnest Boss Battle
Hrm... I dunno
28. Most Boring Boss Battle
Again, I can't answer that. Some are boring, some are more fun.
29. Boss Battle that dragged out for a long, long time
Most Final Fantasy boss battles once you start getting pretty close to the end go on for a long time. I spent 40 minutes fighting Ultimecia in Final Fantasy VIII... I think an hour and fifteen minutes on the final version of Sephiroth the first time through.
30. Boss Battle with the coolest music
Oh Sephiroth's final music One Winged Angel hands down.
31. Most Surprising Boss Battle
Maybe Zeromus from Final Fantasy IV... because all of a sudden Golbez who you spend most of the game thinking is going to end up being the final boss isn't... he's your ally, the brother of one of your core party, and the real enemy is something totally different and unexpected.
32. What's your all time favorite villain?
Sephiroth. So cool...
33. What's your all time least favorite villain?
I um... I didn't like Kefka. I didn't like just about anything about him. From his character design to his music, to his ultimate goals. Thankfully I kicked his ass for it.
34. Do you ever feel sorry for the villains?
I did feel a little sorry for Sephiroth. I mean, he was a respected person, and someone all those he commanded looked up to, wanted to be like... and then he was driven mad by the knowledge of what had been done to him, and how he had come into being.
35. Are there any villains that seem like they should be playing for the good guys, but aren't?
Again Sephiroth. He could have been a good guy. Another example too, is Seifer from FInal Fantasy VIII... And Seifer really thought he was being the good guy. He was just confused.
36. Most malicious villain?
Well.. Kefka was pretty malicious... I mean he was doing stuff just for the sake of being evil I think. That guy was nutzo.
37. Most suprising villain?
Golbez in Final Fantasy IV... When you find out he's not who you think he is... and that he ends up not being the final boss as you expected. Well obviously that's surprising.

38. What is your all-time favorite 2D Game?
2 d... Well probably Final Fantasy VI if by 2D you mean before we moved onto the playstation and the sprites took on a more three dimentional look, and more dimentional angles to the look of the worlds too.
39. What's your favorite 3D game? (PS1/N64 generation)
I think Final Fantasy VII was one of the very best.. though the graphics for 8 were superior... both had very good and engaging storylines... Too Bad IX didn't carry the nice graphics... and X dropped the ball on storyline.. (I think they were trying to prepare us for the whole open storyline thing for XI that nobody wanted.) I'm playing XII now, and the storyline so far is very tight, and definitely is keeping things linear so I can make headway. THing is, I have about 70 hours invested and I really feel like I have a long long way to go.. which is a good thing. I like a game that I can play for a long time and still be getting good storyline carrying me through. Plenty of stuff to do yet. SO I think if it keeps up, that it may very well overtake VII an VIII... but actually I don't like the battle engine as much as VII...
40. What's your favorite arcade game?
Tetris, or Blockout
41. What's your favorite next-gen game? (Gamecube/PS2/X-Box)
Oh that would probably have to be Final Fantasy XII right now...
42. Sequels/long series: Yay or nay?
YAY... Definitely YAY... Obviously. Look how many years I've been playing Final Fantasy.
43. What's your favorite Online Game?
Oh it's some damn Neopets game I can't remember... Kokoro? And there's another I can't remember what it's called. both of them have colored blocks or something.
44. What's your favorite console?
Playstation 2
45.What's your favorite handheld?
Well, other than the Sudoku I have never had one soo....
46. Have you ever got yourself involved in a "console war"? (arguing that a console is better than another console)
Not really... I went to Playstation instead of N64 because Final Fantasy went to Playstation. I would like to see games start getting releasted to cross platform... I would have really liked the opportunity to play the link games that came after N64. But I couldn't afford every console. I had to choose.
47. Have you ever defended a character/game/console you liked in an argument? Which one?
Not other than to say that I followed my favorite game to it's console. I wish I hadn't had to chose between my two favorite series. that sucked.
48. Name a game that you like but everyone else seems to hate.
None that I know of.
49. Name a character that you like but everyone else seems to hate.
Hrm.. I seem to note that there are a lot of Locke Cole haters.. well I like him. He's definitely a cool start character.
50. Name a game that you hate but everyone else seems to like.
Meh... there's loads of them... too many to name.
51. Name a character that you hate but everyone else seems to love.
Yah, um.. Kefka? Why the hell do people think he's so great? I hated that character. I kicked his ass.

52. Have you ever stopped before you finished a game because it was too frustrating to go on?
Yes. Final Fantasy X... see above ranting about discontinuity in game play.
53. Will you stop at NOTHING to get 100% in a video game?
No. I play for the storyline. I don't have to have a perfect score as long as I can get through the story and see what happens at the end.
54. Have you ever injured yourself at a video game? (Space Invader wrist and Mario Party 1 blister victims may answer yes)
Yah... my shoulder actually is jacked up right now from leaning on my arm playing FInal Fantasy XII
55. Has a horror/survival genre video game scared you to the point that you refused to finish the game? Did you get nightmares from said game?
No I have heard some people who have had that happen with games like Silent Hill which I gather can be kind of spooky creepy... I'd like to play that a little and see what it's like. But no, I haven't played really any truly macabre games. Castlevania isn't really creepy like that. Ihave played so much that while I was trying to sleep, I kept seeing little marios going across the screen in front of my inner eyelids.
56. Have you ever thrown a controller/disc/cartridge in a fit of frustration?
yes... yes I have... usually when the controller was starting to go bad ( they were notorious for it in the NES early days)
57. Do you need to blow/clean certain games to get them to play?
yes... most of my NES games have required that... and now, yes definitely.
58. Have you ever played a game for so long that you missed sleep over it?
Oh yes. Most Final Fantasy games I have at some point stayed up to the wee hours playing them.
59. Were you ever involved in the Pokemon craze?
