Woot! new Pedals!

My new pedals came in. I'm so excited. I meant to get them last year but never did. I had the money set aside for the longest time. It's not like they cost much anyway. I wanted a particular kind though. I wanted clips on one side, and flat on the other side for when I want to ride with my normal shoes. The cleats came with it so I don't have to pay for cleats too... the whole set was only $9.99 and no shipping so that was awesome. Brand new pedals. So now I have to put them on, and wait for the weather to clear. Maybe I'll get smart and try them out on my Minoura first until I get used to them. Hee. Everyone keeps telling me that I am required to take a spill the first time I use them. We'll see. Maybe there just won't be any witnesses. *snicker*

Sadly it's not looking like the weather is going to straighten back up until Tuesday next. Seems that around here we've had april flowers and now will have may showers. *rolls eyes* only in Ohio. My Ires have one week to come in or else I can't give some to my mom for Mother's day.

Lizz... Happy Moving day tomorrow. I meant to text you back but I was at work, and stuffed my phone back in my pocket and just now remembered. They showed the house today at 3. They're showing it again tomorrow. So keep fingers and stuff crossed.

Oh, those were pedals!

I agree. really sick of the rain now.

Yush. They's pedals. They are regular on one side and clip-in for SPD cleats on the other side. They can also take toe clips/straps, but I don't like those. I'd rather clip in, or just pedal normally.

We need the rain, but I wish it wouldn't go on for days and days... and I also wish it wouldn't pour down rain EVERY time someone comes to look at the house. Someone looked today.. .Pouring rain, basement door leaking, puddle. Tomorrow it will also be shown, and probably pouring down rain, basement door leaking, puddle... and at the very least I doubt the remains of the previous puddle will be completely dry by morning either. Even if it doesn't rain enough to seep under the door. It's really not a big deal. the drain in the outside stairwell gets clogged with leaves and is not big enough to service the drainage. and so if it starts leaning against the door, it leaks in around the doorframe and goes to the drain in the basement (if it's enough to actually reach that far). But I can't afford to fix it right now.

Having dealt with water leaks in the basement, I feel your pain all too well.

So you know of course that today I came home to discover that the sump pump had failed. *groan*. Ace Handyman has a similar submersible for $84... I can't afford it but obviously I can't afford to be without it either. I'm not sure how to replace it though.

OH DUH ME. Should have scrolled back through, and I would have seen the cost to replace.

Call me

Can't help you there...they snaked the outside drain when my apartment flooded...in the mean time, I used a bucket to manually drain most of the water.

Good luck with the house selling and bike riding.

And yeah, I so need to mow my lawn but it keeps raining and encouraging it to grow. *pouts*

I know you've been wanting those pedals for awhile, glad you got them...yeah stupid weather. It's been raining so much around here the water can't even drain off now..sloppy, gloppy, ooky. The yard is starting to resemble a jungle and it smells like a SWAMP! YUCKY!

Who's house is being shown? Ishte...your house? *bouncing around the room*

Yah, so you knwo, it rained all day, and of course the basement was fine when I left, so the first people saw it moments after I checked... however, this afternoon the sump pump failed while I was at work... and now there is water... and I can't get the damn thing to run. I dont' know if I can afford to replace it.

[identity profile] marynachaotica.livejournal.com 2009-05-01 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you tried priming it? Well that's what Gerry is whispering in my ear. Also something about checking to see if it's clogged up in the intake. Unplug it...which should reset it, then plug it back in and see if it starts up.

Sump pumps have been failing around here as well, they just cannot keep up.

Have a tech look at it, and get an estimate...then tell me.

[identity profile] ishte.livejournal.com 2009-05-01 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yah... this is a submersible, so you dont' really prime it. I've already checked... unplugged it... plugged it into another outlet, checked to make sure it's not clogged, not agaisnt the wall... the ball cock is floating... it's just not coming on... and I don't want to deal with it today... >_< I do not want to be the one to replace it. I found one at Ace for $84... but having my own hands down in murky water in the NO NO Room in the basement with my feet in water working on an electrical appliance is very very very disturbing to me... My next house will NOT have this. NO.

That's what I am vowing as well. Lived with sump pumps growing up and it was a traumatic thing. The house Gerry & I rented for a short while had a sump pump, and even Gerry hated it. This house has no basement, and considering the horrible drainage problems it's a good thing. But my next house MUST have a basement with no leakage problems and NO sump pump! Nasty things.

What would it cost for someone to install it for you?

[identity profile] ishte.livejournal.com 2009-05-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, it's not that the pump is not pumping. It's not running. Period. it's not doing anything at all.
