MS 150
If anyone doesn't know it, the MS 150 is , so after tonight until probably Monday night I will be even MORE scarce than I have been leading up to it. There are just freaking BUTTLOADS of things going on in my life, so I am way way behind on everything around here... plus um...SUMMER!!! which makes me a little busy to begin with just because I'm often out and about just doing stuff.
With Chasing the Trail: Obviously I'm not meeting my goals here at all. I'm really sorry to keep people waiting. With the MS 150 this weekend I just haven't been able to focus on much of anything else except that and the various household financial BS things I'm trying to get straightened out. I am working on "When She Comes" and it is progressing, but very slowly because I just don't have as much time as I usually do. Once I get the MS ride completed, and have my new roommate moved in, a LOT of pressure will come off me, and I think it will move along more smoothly, though I do think I may set wider goals through the summer just because I do still have a lot to do.
August means riding in Pedal with Pete, which I think I'm going to try to do a one day metric century (about 62 miles - 100 km) just so I can say I did that. After that though, I've pretty much decided to go back to the mid distances team. It's not a matter of being unable to do these long rides. I can. However, the training schedule is a) almost unworkable b) not doing as much to help me maintain my weight and fitness because while I'm riding longer at a stretch, I'm riding less often because it's harder to find time to ride for 5 or 6 hours and do 50 miles than it is to find a couple of hours to do 25 or 30. And for me, I need to exercise more often even if it's not for as long... even if the duration is shorter, it's better if I can get on the bike 3 or 4 times a week, rather than barely managing one short ride during the week, and one long ride on the weekend. But I don't have to step up my training any to do the metric century. I can do it now. So I think I'll do it just so I can say I did, and then go back to mid distances so that the riding is more beneficial to my health. After all, besides the sheer enjoyment of it, that's why I ride... training for these long rides has sincerely made it less enjoyable for me.
I did meet my sponsorship goals for the MS 150, thanks to everyone who could chip a little in. My father was kind enough not only to pitch some buxx in the sponsor bucket, but wanting me to have the best safety equipment, he also ponied up the dough for a major major helmet upgrade. So I now have a brand spanking new Giro Atmos helmet. (for the uninformed, this is absolutely the top of the line) Yays for that. Thanks Dad! When I have some information, I'll post it about the Pedal with Pete, so anyone who wanted to sponsor me in the MS ride and wasn't able to, will have another opportunity to donate to a good cause. Pedal with Pete is for Cerebral Palsy, and one of the kids on our bike team is a CP kid whose mother was told he would not walk or talk... well bah to that. Stephen rides a bike, and no training wheels either. Last year did his first 7 mile for Pedal with Pete. He took a spill skinned his knees, bawled for a minute like a hurt kid, but given the option to stop, he said "no way" and went on the rest of his ride. Go Stephen!
Sorry to all of you who really don't give a rats ass about my biking, or the charitable events I do it for. Sorry you think I should put it behind a cut so you don't have to read about me doing something healthy to help others. I feel a little snarky about that today, you'll just have to deal with seeing me talk about something important to me. *sticks out tongue*. Now I'm done.

Oh my she's alive!
Good to hear form you,
Little Chemist
