MS 150

Team Demon has completed the MS 150.  Whew... What an event.  Definitely worthwhile.. .very tiring... I'm tired.  I'm sunburnt.  I'm going back to mid distances next year.  Not because long distances is difficult.. sure it is, but I've proven I can do them.  I'll probably do a metric century for Cerebral Palsy when I do Pedal with Pete in August.  However the training schedule is not working for me, and in fact fitness wise it has worked against me.  I find that training more often and less distance gives me a more intense workout than when I do long distances and have to constantly hold back either for team cohesion, of just to pace myself to be able to get all the way through.  Mid Distances are still hard, but the training schedule is better since I can ride faster, shorter, and thus more often. VERY hard to find 5 or 6 hours to ride even every WEEK much less twice or three times a week, which is what I need to be doing to keep my weight and fitness where I want them to be.

Anyway, even at mid distances, I'm probably going to do the MS 150 again next year.  It's a good cause, and it's not about the ride, it's about the money we raise to fight this disease.  I've mentioned before that my cousin's wife has it. Fortunately for her, the medicines they are using are working very well, and she is keeping it in check and living a fairly normal life.  Not so much luck for Sean. He's having a rough time.  So continuing research is so important, so that cases that still don't respond to the current drugs can also be helped.  We've made so much progress, but we have so much more to do.  Thanks to everyone who donated.

I had the opportunity to ride a recumbent Trike around.. .Pocket trike by Catrike. I have to tell you this baby was COOL... One of the bike shops had brought it out for display at University of Dayton while we where housed there... so I test rode it. SWEET... Totally cool. So cool in fact that I spent the next two hours getting other people to test it out too, and riding it around a bit myself and talking to people about what I DID know about it.  I had to keep telling people it wasn't mine and I didn't work for the bike store. hahaha... I told the guys from the shop when I finally went up stairs that I was sorry, I hadn't been able to sell their trike for them. ^_^ Below is a picture of the exact model I was riding right down to the HORRIFIC color.

I have no doubt in my mind you could do it on your own!
